Updating a User’s Login After an Email Update in Rhythm

Modified on Fri, Jan 23 at 5:39 PM

If a user updates their email in the console or requests an email update through MOPS, you can create a 2nd login for the account using the new email address.  This does not require USS involvement, or an update in Auth0.

  1. Go into the Rhythm console.  Update the email on the User's profile.  Keep the console window open.  (You can skip this step if the user has already updated their email, but you will need to have their profile open for the next steps.)
  2. Open an incognito window.  Navigate to the website & open the login prompt.  Choose SET UP AN ACCOUNT
  3. Enter the new email, user first and last name & create a temporary password.
  4. You should now see the email verification screen.  Go back to the console window and refresh.   Go to the Security tab.   You will see the attempted login you just made.    Click the Verify Email button.   You will get a green bar at the top of the page saying Email is verified.  NOTE - User email may still show as unverified in the security tab.
  5. Return to the incognito window.  Click log out and start over.  Log in again with the user's new email and temp password using the LOG IN tab.  You should now see the User's profile.
  6. Return to the console window & refresh.   Email will show as verified & User can now use the new email as their login.  Send them the new login and password.  Let them know they can update their password in the portal by clicking the arrow next to their member ID in the top right-hand corner.

NOTE:   After the login email is updated,  you may need to manually update the user's email on your learning and/or community platforms.  These steps will differ from association to association.     Please reach out to your User Support team for customized documentation for your client.
